In the Samba Nottinghamshire Senior League, supported by Euro Soccer Company, the Senior Cup got underway with holders Southwell City safely through to the next round following a 2-1 win at Wollaton. Bradley Peace-McDonald put City ahead from the spot after Thomas Robinson was brought down in the box early in the second half. Calum Law doubled the advantage less than ten minutes later when he blocked a clearance by the Wollaton keeper and it rebounded into the net. Wollo pulled one back almost immediately with a penalty of their own, converted by Joshua Stevenson; there wee late chances at either end but ultimately there were no further goals.
Gedling Southbank sniffed an upset when Joshua Cranny put them one up at home to Bingham Town but the Premier Division side struck back through Jake Hardy and Tom Spencer to make it through 2-1. West Bridgford took the lead too, away at AFC Dunkirk, but the superior talents of the higher ranked side came to the fore in the second half as they eventually ran out 7-2 winners. In other all-Premier Division ties, goals from Cameron Marsh (2), Nathan Francis and Ricky Gardner saw the league leaders Burton Joyce ease past Eastwood CFC Development 4-0. Aslockton & Orston took a three goal lead at Bilborough Town through Pierce Hallam, James Langridge and Jack Robb. Shea Gough reduced the arrears for Town but it was too little too late. Keyworth United knocked out Cotgrave 3-0 thanks to Jake Fisher, Cameron Gray and Ryan Tinsley while FC Cavaliers edged out Magdala Amateurs 2-1 with goals from Siraj Chitulu and Arnyda Wenazo, Ffion Coffey replying for The Budgies. In the matches that pitted Division One sides against one another there were goals aplenty at Hucknall Town Development as AFC Top Valley came away with a 7-4 win. There were two goals each for Top Valley for Jake Gunn, Joe Gunn and Ben Cummings and one for Raymond Xavier. There were also braces for Isaac Anderson and Kai Boultby for Hucknall. It took extra time for Ruddington Village to prevail at Ravenshead. It was 1-1 at full time but the visitors scored twice to The Ravens once in the extra period. Joseph Brown, Daniel Neary and Ross Cochrane-Smith were the Rudd scorers, Mark Yates with both for Ravenshead. In the solitary Premier Division match Awsworth Villa made it three matches unbeaten with a 2-2 draw with Woodthorpe Park Rangers. Villa took a two goal lead through Daniel Morgan and Kyle Nutt but they were pegged back by a brace from Connor Scott-Parkin. In the Junior Cup, Pythian saw off Wollaton Reserves 5-3 with help from a Michael Lindsay hat-trick while Adam Hassell scored four for Stapleford Town Reserves in their extra-time 6-2 win over Southwell City Reserves and Barrowby knocked out Bilborough Town Community 3-0. In Division One, Radcliffe Olympic made it three wins on the trot, 5-3 against Kimberley Miners Welfare Reserves, and there were two goals apiece for Abdul-Raheem Sunmonu and Martin McDonagh for Radford Reserves in their 6-2 win over Kirton Brickworks. In Division Two, Keyworth United Reserves closed the gap to Cotgrave Reserves at the top of the table by beating them 5-1. Ruddington Village Reserves are up to third after their 6-2 defeat of Bingham Town Reserves. Asha won 2-0 against United Grays with both goals from Samuel Taylor, remarkably the second of which came after he’d taken over as goalkeeper following an injury to starting number one, James Fletcher, lobbing his opposite number with a kick from inside his own penalty area! AFC Dunkirk Reserves came from behind to win 3-1 at Elston United and Ravenshead Reds won 4-2 at Beeston Old Boys Association. In the Nottinghamshire FA Senior Trophy Clifton All Whites were knocked out by AFC Villa, 3-2 after extra time. In the Samba Nottinghamshire Senior League, supported by Euro Soccer Company, the current Premier Division leaders, Burton Joyce, met the reigning champions, Stapleford Town. It ended all square despite Burton Joyce taking a two goal lead in the first half. The Saxons struck back through Ryan Stark and Junior Rodriguez before the break and, following a quieter second period, it finished 2-2.
Bingham Town are up to second after their sixth win on the trot, this time 6-0 at Attenborough thanks to a Euan Sweeting hat-trick, a Tom Spencer brace and one from Ed Hodgson. AFC Dunkirk are third following a 3-2 win at Sandiacre Town on Friday night that included two goals for George Harrison, one of which was a 40 yard strike into the top corner that rather satisfyingly clipped post and bar on the way in. Luis Parkes was also on target for the Boatmen. Woodthorpe Park Rangers have slipped from second to fourth after their 100% record was broken in fine style by Southwell City who ran out 3-1 winners. Sam Winch added the third for the home side. Two goals from Danny Morgan earned Awsworth Villa a point in a 2-2 draw at Magdala Amateurs. With the Nottinghamshire FA cups kicking off there were only two games in Division One. The new look Radcliffe Olympic picked up back-to-back wins as a Brett Soiza hat-trick helped them overcome Ravenshead 6-0 while Wollaton Reserves edged past Gedling Southbank 2-1. In the Notts FA Trophy Joe Gunn fired a hat-trick in AFC Top Valley’s 10-2 win over Ashland Rovers Development but it took penalties to separate the sides in the all-Division One encounter between West Bridgford AFC and Kirton Brickworks. Bridgford prevailed 4-2 after a goalless 120 minutes. In other all-NSL ties, Bright Agana struck a 14 minute hat-trick for Beeston in their 7-1 win over Pythian. Ruddington Village knocked out Elston United but their reserve side couldn’t replicate the feat, going down 3-1 to Kimberley Miners Welfare. Elsewhere Robin Hood Colts won 4-2 against Netherfield, United Grays came away from Quarrydale United with a 2-1 win, Keyworth United Reserves beat Trent Vineyard 5-2 and Ravenshead Reds knocked out Wollaton Thirds 4-2. Unfortunately Bridgford United went out to FC Sez, losing 5-0, and Selston Reserves saw off Bingham Town Reserves 4-1. In Division Two, Cotgrave Reserves consolidated first place with a 6-2 win at Burton Joyce Reserves, including a Kieron Burrows brace. Lee Dixon and Samuel Taylor were both on target twice for Asha in their 6-1 win at Bilborough Town Community. Beeston Old Boys Association got off the mark at the fifth time of asking with a 2-1 win over Stapleford Town Reserves and AFC Dunkirk Reserves won by a similar scoreline at Barrowby. In the Samba Nottinghamshire Senior League, supported by Euro Soccer Company, Burton Joyce continue to set the pace following their 3-0 win over FC Cavaliers. All the goals came in the second half, from Joe Harrod, Ricky Gardner and Brad Woodcock. Woodthorpe Park Rangers are just one point behind having played one game fewer. They maintained their 100% record with a 5-1 win at Cotgrave, this despite being reduced to ten men with the score at 2-1.

After going unbeaten in their first four matches, Wollaton have now lost three on the spin, the latest a 3-2 reverse against Calverton Miners Welfare. Calvo’s goals were shared between Jason Hodson, Adam Limb and Dalton Stephens with Gareth Bentley and Kyle Crofts replying for Wollo. Jake Fisher took his goal tally to eight for the season with a hat-trick for Keyworth United in their 5-1 win at Eastwood CFC Development. Awsworth Villa picked up their first points of the season and lifted themselves off the foot of the table with a 4-2 win at Attenborough. In Division One, West Bridgford AFC are top on goals scored, a Marcus Browne hat-trick in their 6-0 win at Basford United Community helping his side keep just ahead of AFC Top Valley who beat Bridgford United 4-1 to keep their 100% record alive. Radford Reserves, in third, were also 4-1 winners – at home against Hucknall Town Development, as were a new look Radcliffe Olympic against Robin Hood Colts including a brace for Jawanza Grant. It was Radcliffe’s first win since mid-February. That means the sole remaining perfect record in the top flight belongs to Woodthorpe Park Rangers as a 4-2 scoreline against Magdala Amateurs gave them their fifth win of the season. Ellis Carter actually put Magdala ahead early in the encounter but Connor Scott-Parkin levelled matters before the break. The Budgies’ task got decidedly more difficult just after the restart though as Adam Kelvey was sent off. The introduction of Markell Bailey for Woodthorpe made all the difference, however, as he set up both Conor Carter and Jason Rimmel then, after Ben Johnson had pulled one back, added the fourth himself. AFC Dunkirk came from two down away at Stapleford Town on Friday night to draw 2-2 and preserve their unbeaten start. Ahead of them on goal difference having played a game more, however, are Cotgrave Reserves who won 4-2 at Barrowby. Jack Palmer netted twice for Keyworth United Reserves in their 6-1 win over Beeston Old Boys Association while Josh Wilson grabbed a hat-trick for United Grays in their 7-0 demolition of Ravenshead Reds. There was a hat-trick for Kane Pearson, two goals for Joe Gunn and one for Jake Gunn although on the downside Luke Gregory was stretchered off. Sam McGrath scored a hat-trick for West Bridgford AFC who, like Top Valley, have a 100% record from four matches following a 7-3 win over Beeston. Lewis Heron (2), Marcus Browne and Luke McRedmond also netted for Bridgford; Elliot Pitt, Benjamin Knight and Jason Jude for Beeston. Radford Reserves are only two points behind the top two after they won 7-2 at Radcliffe Olympic, including a hat-trick for Tiyumtaba Harrung and a brace for Antony Edwards. Kirton Brickworks leapfrogged Kimberley Miners Welfare in the table thanks to beating them 2-1 while Basford United Community won by a similar scoreline at Ravenshead. Stapleford Town Reserves join Cotgrave on six points at the top following a 3-1 win at Asha. In the ‘Bridgford Derby’, West Bridgford AFC overcame Bridgford United 4-2. Marcus Browne (2), Luke Dabell and Thomas Teer netted for West Bridgford with United’s replies coming from Kyle Pemberton and Ryan Winstanley. Hucknall Town Development got their inaugural NSL campaign off to a bright start with a 2-0win at Ravenshead thanks to Kurt Hallam and James Terry while Wollaton Reserves edged an eleven goal thriller at Southwell City Reserves, eventually prevailing 6-5. Newly promoted AFC Top Valley saw off Beeston 4-3 while Basford United Community won by a similar scoreline against the other promoted side, Robin Hood Colts. Kirton Brickworks and Ruddington Village drew 2-2. There were three 4-3’s in Division Two: Clifton All Whites Development beat Keyworth United Reserves, Stapleford Town Reserves saw off Beeston Old Boys Association and Asha edged out Ravenshead Reds. In the division’s other game a second half Sean Yorke brace helped Cotgrave Reserves on their way to a 3-0 win at Elston United. Bingham Town moved within two points of Stapleford Town at the top of the Samba Nottinghamshire Senior League, supported by Euro Soccer Company, Premier Division with a 2-0 win over Wollaton, while Stapleford went down 1-0 at Southwell City. The Hickings Lane team still need only two points to claim the title from their final three matches, however, as Bingham only have one game remaining or, due to a vastly superior goal difference, one point should suffice.
Tom Spencer and Phil Leggett were the matchwinners for Bingham. Liam Moran netted for Southwell following a marauding run from right back just after the interval. Cotgrave were the only Premier Division away side to score on the day, thanks to a second half strike from Jack Sykes-Wood, however two goals before the interval from Harry Simpson and one from Dane Bennett were enough to give Calverton Miners Welfare the 3-1 win. The three points sees Calvo finish in 15th. Aslockton & Orston rounded out their campaign with a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Sandiacre Town. A Jordan Smith brace set Sandiacre on their way, a Perry McGrath wonder strike made it three and Jordan Leonardi completed the victory. A first half effort from Kieran Diver was enough for AFC Dunkirk to edge out Radcliffe Olympic 1-0. In Division One, Burton Joyce still have six points to make up on Ravenshead if they are to claim the runners up spot, after they went down 4-3 to Ruddington Village. BJ have got five games to do it in but Basford United Community, who are level on points in fourth, continue to stake their claim following a 4-1 win over Bridgford United on Friday night. James Hill bagged a brace for Mansfield Hosiery Mills in their 5-1 defeat of Bestwood Miners Welfare and Alexander Neilson grabbed a hat-trick for Selston Reserves as they overcame Radford Reserves 10-1. Awsworth Villa Reserves came away from AFC Bridgford with a 2-0 win and Kimberley Miners Welfare Reserves picked up their first point since early January in a 0-0 draw at Kirton Brickworks. In the only game in Division Two, Keyworth United Development rounded out their season with a 2-0 win at Nottingham Community. In the Samba Nottinghamshire Senior League, supported by Euro Soccer Company, Stapleford Town now need just five points from their remaining five games in order to be crowned Premier Division champions following a 2-0 win at Aslockton & Orston. Goals either side of half time from Benjamin Smedley and Joshua Watts earned the three points.
A Tom Spencer brace helped second placed Bingham Town on their way to a 4-1 win at Calverton Miners Welfare. Jay Archer and Jake Hardy were also on target for Town, Ethan Hunter for Calvo. It was Jonny Upton’s 50th game in charge of Southwell City and he saw his side come away from FC Cavaliers with a 6-0 win. City had an effort ruled out for offside and hit the woodwork twice before Bradley Peace-McDonald opened the scoring from a free kick. Jonathan Nussey doubled the advantage from the penalty spot just after the break then the floodgates opened in the closing stages. Calum Law notched with a deflected strike, Peace-McDonald completed his hat-trick and Liam Moran put the icing on the cake. Awsworth Villa completed their season with a disappointing 4-0 defeat at Sandiacre Town. Joshua Mundell set the ball rolling and a Jordan Leonardi brace made it 3-0 at the interval. Leonardi was replaced by Howard Waby for the second 45 and the substitute added the fourth with half an hour remaining. Scott Carlile and Greg Wedge gave Wollaton a 2-1 win at Magdala Amateurs. Thomas Groves replied for the hosts. There were two goals apiece for David Jones and Kieran Knight as Eastwood CFC Development saw off Attenborough 5-0. Deniz Aris added the fifth. In Division One, having secured the title in midweek, Woodthorpe Park Rangers edged out their old rivals Bridgford United 1-0 thanks to Darren Oldham. Ravenshead rounded out their season with a 5-2 loss at Basford United Community. Alex Goodall (2), Ewan Hill, Blake Cooke and Dominik Walkus netted for Basford, Bradley Martin and Perris Thomas for the Reds. Burton Joyce did their chances of taking Ravenshead’s second spot no harm at all with a 5-0 win at Radford Reserves inspired by a Mark Faflik hat-trick. Jack Caulton and Charlie Fraser were also on target. Awsworth Villa Reserves edged out Southwell City Reserves 3-2 while AFC Bridgford recorded their biggest win of the season, 7-1 over Mansfield Hosiery Mills including two goals for both Mark Ballard and Thomas Teer. Fraser Cannon-Brownlie was also on target twice, for Ruddington Village, as they overcame Beeston 3-1. Kirton Brickworks won by a similar scoreline against Bestwood Miners Welfare and Selston Reserves came away from Wollaton Reserves with a 2-0 win. In Division Two, AFC Top Valley continued their push for the title with a resounding 13-0 win against Sneinton Town. There were hat-tricks for Ben Cummings, Jacob Gunn and Kane Pearson but Joseph Gunn went one better to grab four. Newark Flowserve Reserves will still fancy their chances of hitting top spot, however, as hat-tricks for Tyler Martin and Ed Munton helped them to 7-2 victory over Clifton All Whites Development. Ruddington Village Reserves are the other team hoping to take the title, they won 3-0 at Keyworth United Development. George Camps bagged a brace for Robin Hood Colts as they made it 13 league matches unbeaten with a 4-0 win at Bingham Town Reserves. Rory Green scored a hat-trick for Stapleford Town Reserves as they saw off Nottingham Community 4-0 and AFC Clifton won 3-0 at Ravenshead Reserves. |
