The title race in the Precision Nottinghamshire Senior League Premier Division is hotting up as league leaders West Bridgford hosted second-placed Clifton All Whites.
Despite the home side’s best efforts – they had a goal ruled out for offside – it was stalemate in the first half. But after the break Jake Richardson broke the deadlock when he headed home for Clifton on 55 minutes. This led to the visitors’ best spell of the game and prompted Bridgford to shuffle their pack. Carl Westcarr was introduced for the home side and, within five minutes, had levelled matters. With time running out the league’s top scorer, Jurgen Charlesworth, received the ball in the box and he duly dispatched it to give West Bridgford a 2-1 win and send the majority of the180-strong crowd into raptures. The win lifts the Red & Blacks into a 14-point lead but all of the chasing pack have a number of games in hand. Match-winning manager Chris Marks said, “We’re proud of the way the boys played today. I am pleased at how they reacted to going a goal down. There are a lot of good sides this year so we’re not getting ahead of ourselves and we’re aware that the table doesn’t tell the full story” Ruddington Village are back up to third after they defeated Cotgrave 5-0. The goals were shared between Adam McMullen, Daniel Blanchard, Dave Rimington, Matt Carver and Jordan Hassell. Awsworth Villa got back to winning ways as they overcame FC Cavaliers 5-2. Ryan Whitehurst (2), John Whitehurst (2) and Matthew Wither were on target for Villa; Liam Taylor (2) for Cavs. Wollaton continue to quietly go about their business as they won 3-0 at Beeston. Jack Warner grabbed a hat-trick in Attenborough’s 3-1 win over AFC Dunkirk. Oliver Clark got Dunkirk’s reply. Luke Hodgman put Kimberley Miners Welfare Reserves two up against Ashland Rovers only for the visitors to hit back in the second half through Danny Bircumshaw and Mark Summers. Hodgman stole the points for Kimberley, though, with a last minute penalty. Oliver Reeves scored a hat-trick for Wollaton Reserves in their 5-0 win over Radcliffe Olympic Reserves. Bilborough United could only draw at bottom club Kirton Brickworks, 1-1, while Gedling Southbank saw off Netherfield Albion 2-0. Clifton All Whites Reserves also won 2-0, at Southwell City Reserves.
