Bingham Town moved within two points of Stapleford Town at the top of the Samba Nottinghamshire Senior League, supported by Euro Soccer Company, Premier Division with a 2-0 win over Wollaton, while Stapleford went down 1-0 at Southwell City. The Hickings Lane team still need only two points to claim the title from their final three matches, however, as Bingham only have one game remaining or, due to a vastly superior goal difference, one point should suffice.
Tom Spencer and Phil Leggett were the matchwinners for Bingham. Liam Moran netted for Southwell following a marauding run from right back just after the interval. Stapleford were reduced to ten men with the sending off of Mitchell Robinson soon after and finished the match with nine as Joshua Watts also received his marching orders with a quarter of an hour remaining. Southwell, who will finish the season in third, also had a period with reduced personnel as Jonathan Nussey took a trip to the sin bin. Cotgrave were the only Premier Division away side to score on the day, thanks to a second half strike from Jack Sykes-Wood, however two goals before the interval from Harry Simpson and one from Dane Bennett were enough to give Calverton Miners Welfare the 3-1 win. The three points sees Calvo finish in 15th. Aslockton & Orston rounded out their campaign with a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Sandiacre Town. A Jordan Smith brace set Sandiacre on their way, a Perry McGrath wonder strike made it three and Jordan Leonardi completed the victory. A first half effort from Kieran Diver was enough for AFC Dunkirk to edge out Radcliffe Olympic 1-0. In Division One, Burton Joyce still have six points to make up on Ravenshead if they are to claim the runners up spot, after they went down 4-3 to Ruddington Village. BJ have got five games to do it in but Basford United Community, who are level on points in fourth, continue to stake their claim following a 4-1 win over Bridgford United on Friday night. James Hill bagged a brace for Mansfield Hosiery Mills in their 5-1 defeat of Bestwood Miners Welfare and Alexander Neilson grabbed a hat-trick for Selston Reserves as they overcame Radford Reserves 10-1. Awsworth Villa Reserves came away from AFC Bridgford with a 2-0 win and Kimberley Miners Welfare Reserves picked up their first point since early January in a 0-0 draw at Kirton Brickworks. In the only game in Division Two, Keyworth United Development rounded out their season with a 2-0 win at Nottingham Community. Comments are closed.
