In Division One, Woodthorpe Park Rangers are within a point of the title with three games remaining and Ravenshead are pushing to hold onto their second spot with two matches left after a first half Joshua Broad goal saw them defeat AFC Bridgford 1-0. In Division Two, AFC Top Valley stay top by a point after a Kane Pearson brace helped them towards being four to the good at Stapleford Town Reserves. The hosts halved the arrears before the break but with no scoring in the second period it stayed 4-2. Ruddington Village Reserves moved into second with a 6-0 win over Nottingham Community, including a hat-trick for Sam Dunstan. Captain Barry Payne headed Calvo in front midway through the first half with Ethan Hunter extending the lead with 20 minutes remaining. Kallum Greaves pulled one back for Eastwood from the spot but Mathew Newton briefly calmed the host’s nerves by restoring the two goal lead on 85 minutes. Danny Tring immediately replied to set up a tense finish but Calverton held on for all three points. Thomas Jeffries gave Gedling Southbank an early lead at home to Sandiacre Town but the visitors struck back through Jordan Leonardi, Perry McGrath and Jordan Smith. Tyler Cook reduced the arrears before getting sent off and Sandiacre held on for the 3-2 win. Benjamin Knight and Thomas O’Regan put the visitor ahead and although Ellis Read pulled one back it was the lower ranked side that went through.
It took extra time for Premier Division leaders Stapleford Town to overturn a two goal deficit to edge past Ravenshead from the division below. Joe Maguire converted two penalties in the opening half an hour for the Reds, who held the two goal lead right up until the 78th minute when Adam Hassell pulled one back with a header. It wasn’t until stoppage time that Stapleford got back to level terms when Ben Cheatle, making his first appearance of the season, netted an audacious cross-cum-shot. Junior Rodriguez completed the turnaround three minutes into the second period of extra time to keep his side’s double hopes alive. It also took extra time for Southwell City to see off FC Cavaliers. City took an early lead through Bradley Peace-McDonald and, despite a host of other chances, were unable to extend their advantage. They were made to rue the missed opportunities when substitute Arnyda Wenazo scored late on for Cavs to take the tie to an extra period. Ultimately Jonathan Upton spared Southwell’s blushes and it is they who will contest a semi-final following their 2-1 win. In the Samba Nottinghamshire Senior League, supported by Euro Soccer Company, Stapleford Town opened up a four point gap at the top of the Premier Division with a 2-0 win against Eastwood CFC Development. Adam Hassell scored either side of half time, the first from the penalty spot, to secure the points. The joy of victory for Stapleford was tempered somewhat by an injury to Michael Robb that was later diagnosed as a broken fibula.
Lee Potts was on target twice for Cotgrave in their 5-0 win at Radcliffe Olympic. Dougie Mills, Joe Hegarty and Gethyn Tustin were also on target. After being 4-1 down at Keyworth United Daniel Roberts scored a late equaliser for Awsworth Villa to give his side a share of the spoils in a 4-4 draw. Thomas Siswick grabbed a brace for Keyworth on his debut, after stepping up from the Development team, with Daniel Chadwick and Joe Nice also on the scoresheet. Jake Fisher (2) and Jay Knight netted for Villa alongside Roberts. Wollaton came from behind to win 2-1 at FC Cavaliers with goals from Joshuas Stevenson and Lewis cancelling out David Kolapo’s strike. Bilborough Town also staged a comeback in their game with Calverton Miners Welfare. Calvo took a three goal lead through Alex Clarson, Jack Harrison and Barry Payne but Papa Fell, Shea Gough and Wiktor Majewski made it 3-3 and a point apiece. In Division One, Woodthorpe Park Rangers remain unbeaten but recorded their second draw in three weeks as it finished 4-4 with Ravenshead. Markell Bailey came off the bench to score twice for Woodthorpe in addition to Adam Chenery and Cory Johnson efforts. Brent Horton (2), Perris Thomas and Martin McDonagh scored for Ravenshead, who had Alex Faulconbridge sent off. The only other game that survived the weather in the division saw Ben Napier score twice to give Southwell City Reserves a 2-1 win over Bridgford United. Jourdan Blair netted for Bridgford, who ended the game with ten men after Rikki Robinson receive his marching orders. In Division Two, AFC Top Valley re back on top on goal difference after they beat Elston United 11-0 while Ruddington Village Reserves edged out AFC Clifton 2-1. Kurtis Blake-Wynter grabbed a hat-trick on his first start for Top Valley. In addition, Joe Gunn was on target three times, Benjamin Cummings and Kane Pearson twice and Kraig Hurst once. Kaiden Burke-Campbell and Glen Kill’s strike’s gave Ruddington the win, Jaz Baker replied for Clifton. After waiting all season to register their first point, Sneinton Town have made it two wins in two by beating Cotgrave Reserves 3-1. Ronnie Hodge (2) and Taylen Shannon did the damage for Sneinton, Thomas Bacon with Cotgrave’s consolation. |
