The 2019/20 Samba Nottinghamshire Senior League, supported by Euro Soccer Company, got underway with last season’s Senior Cup winners, Southwell City, being the weekend’s biggest winners in the Premier Division. They came away from Awsworth Villa with a 7-2 victory courtesy of Calum Law (2), Bradley Pece-McDonald, Stewart Gill, Ashley Dixon, Ben Selby and an own goal. Daniel Orme and James Machin with Villa’s consolations.
Both of the promoted teams got off to flying starts with Burton Joyce defeating last season’s runners up, Bingham Town, 5-0 and Woodthorpe Park Rangers overcoming Keyworth United 4-1. Nathan Francis struck a hat-trick for BJ to set them on their way with Ricky Gardner and Mark Faflik rounding out the win. A Markell Bailey brace put WPR on their path to victory with Callum Moss and James Lawrence-Forbes also netting; Jake Fisher replied for Keyworth. Reigning champions Stapleford Town also opened their account with a win, 3-0 against Bilborough Town. Harry Crosby-Oldershaw struck a sublime free-kick on the stroke of half-time and Robson Grey and Jack Upton completed the scoring after the break. Danny Blanchard and Kieran Diver struck two apiece as their AFC Dunkirk side overcame Eastwood CFC Development 4-1 while a Siraj Chitulu double was enough to see FC Cavaliers past Calverton Miners Welfare 2-0. Magdala Amateurs saw off Sandiacre Town 3-2 thanks to a Tom Haw brace and one for Ellis Carter. Owen Hayes and Jack Panicisi replied for Town. In Division One, Radford Reserves are the early pace setters following their 7-1 win against relegated Gedling Southbank which included a hat-trick for Martin McDonagh. Jordan Baker, Carl Spencer, Dominik Walhus and Rabiu Muhammad were also on target; Luke Pickard with Southbank’s consolation. In the ‘Bridgford Derby’, West Bridgford AFC overcame Bridgford United 4-2. Marcus Browne (2), Luke Dabell and Thomas Teer netted for West Bridgford with United’s replies coming from Kyle Pemberton and Ryan Winstanley. Hucknall Town Development got their inaugural NSL campaign off to a bright start with a 2-0win at Ravenshead thanks to Kurt Hallam and James Terry while Wollaton Reserves edged an eleven goal thriller at Southwell City Reserves, eventually prevailing 6-5. Newly promoted AFC Top Valley saw off Beeston 4-3 while Basford United Community won by a similar scoreline against the other promoted side, Robin Hood Colts. Kirton Brickworks and Ruddington Village drew 2-2. There were three 4-3’s in Division Two: Clifton All Whites Development beat Keyworth United Reserves, Stapleford Town Reserves saw off Beeston Old Boys Association and Asha edged out Ravenshead Reds. In the division’s other game a second half Sean Yorke brace helped Cotgrave Reserves on their way to a 3-0 win at Elston United. Comments are closed.
