The fixture list was decimated by the weather in the Precision Nottinghamshire Senior League with only two Premier Division matches going ahead on Saturday.
Beeston moved their match with league leaders West Bridgford to the artificial surface of Gresham Park in order to make sure it went ahead. Ultimately the match was settled in the first five minutes when West Bridgford’s leading scorer, Jurgen Charlesworth, volleyed home a cross from the left. Despite hitting the woodwork in the second half and having an effort cleared off the line the Red & Blacks couldn’t extend their lead. The 1-0 victory opens the gap at the top of the table to 14 points although West Bridgford have played at least two more games than the chasing pack. The other match was lower down the table as Sandhurst clocked up an unwanted century – they have now conceded 100 league goals as they went down 2-0 at FC Cavaliers. Ako Abdullah scored both of Cavs’ goals in the second half, keeping his team 13th; Sandhurst stay in 15th. There was one match in Division One on Friday night. A second half strike from Reece Jackson gave Hucknall Rolls Leisure Reserves a 1-0 win over bottom club Kirton Brickworks. The victory draws Rolls level on points with second placed Magdala Amateurs.
