Only one match in the Nottinghamshire Senior League Premier Division survived the weather with leaders Newark Flowserve preserving their 100% record, making it 21 wins from 21 as they beat Basford United Community 2-0. Jamie Lloyd headed home and Sam Agar converted a Daryl Price cross.
Two other Premier Division sides were in action though as Calverton Miners Welfare and Bingham Town contested the Notts FA Intermediate Cup semi-final. In a thrilling tie, Calverton took the lead just before half time but Tom Spencer managed to equalise immediately to make it 1-1 at the break. Calverton then must have thought they had won it when they retook the lead on 85 minutes but Mike Jepps had other ideas and the match went to extra-time at 2-2. Ed Hodgson put Bingham ahead for the first time in the second period of extra-time only for his side to concede penalty soon after but Harry Haywood inn the Town goal saved the ensuing kick. That wasn’t the end of the drama, though, as George Scrivener for Calvo and Jepps for Bingham were sent off on 115 minutes following an altercation, then with two minutes left, Calverton levelled to take the tie to penalties. It took eight penalties apiece before the sides could be separated with Bingham winning it 7-6. Dane Bennett, Adam Limb and Mathew Newton were the Welfare scorers. In Division One, a Kurt Savage strike gave Awsworth Villa a 1-0 win at AFC Bridgford while a Lee Townsend hat-trick helped Ashland Rovers beat Real Community 3-1, Aswaan Allen the Real scorer. In Division Two, leaders Bridgford United went down 3-2 at Barrowby. Robert Lee put the home side two up only for Bridgford to get themselves back into it through Christopher Papp and Rikki Robinson. With 20 minutes remaining Lee almost completed his hat-trick but his shot truck the bar and Daniel Taggart tucked home the rebound. A Connor Brindley brace helped AFC Clifton on their way to a 4-0 win over Kirton Brickworks Reserves. Jake Bell and Sam Sheffield were also on target. Keyworth United Development beat Nottingham City 5-1 with the goals shared between Jack Bowler, Jack Phoenix, John Denty, James Blanchard and Korrey McLaren. Glodi Bange with City’s consolation. Thomas Jeffries scored four and Kian Leavesley 3 in Gedling Southbank’s 8-4 win at Welbeck Lions Reserves. Luke Pickard also netted. Comments are closed.
