In the Precision Nottinghamshire Senior League festive fixtures on Wednesday, Basford United Community gave their fans a late Christmas present by beating Premier Division leaders Bilborough Town 4-1. Joe Harrison set the hosts on their way with a long range just after the break then Jack Duffy quickly doubled Basford’s advantage. Duffy went on to complete his hat-trick before Ricky Law added a late consolation for town.
Second placed Awsworth Villa took the opportunity to close the gap at the top to two points, with a game in hand, as they won 4-2 at home to Bingham Town. Villa went ahead before Mike Jepps equalised for Bingham before the break. Awsworth took the lead again in the second half before Jon Morley levelled matters. Awsworth then managed to get their noses in front once again and, as the visitors chased the game late on, they sealed the victory. John Whitehurst (2), Matt Goodwin and Kurt Savage were the Villa scorers. Wollaton remain winless since mid-November after they went down 4-2 at home to Newark Flowserve. Daryl Price got a hat-trick for the visitors, alongside an Elliott King effort. Ryan Krause and Jake Fisher were on target for Wollaton. Alex Cook struck four times as Real United put Sandiacre Town to the sword, winning 6-1. Alex Ford and Will Oldham also netted for Real; Owen Hayes with Town’s consolation. In a game where both sides finished with ten men Underwood Villa came from behind twice to salvage a 2-2 draw at home to Aston United. Jordan Sanders put Aston ahead early on then Villa missed the chance to equalise from the spot soon after. Alex Mann equalised on 80 minutes before Shay Wiggins must have thought he’d header the winner for Aston in stoppage time. Kai Wilson had other ideas as he ensured a share of the spoils for Underwood. In Division One, Bilborough United and Netherfield Albion drew 0-0. Comments are closed.
