In the Nottinghamshire Senior League Premier Division, with leaders Newark Flowserve it was the second and third placed teams, Awsworth Villa and FC Cavaliers respectively, that took centre stage. It was the higher ranked side that came out on top as Rich Hodgman put Awsworth ahead somewhat fortunately with a cross-cum-shot, then Ryan Whitehurst doubled the advantage before the break. Hodgman grabbed his second after the restart to make the final score 3-0.
Gedling Southbank and AFC Dunkirk drew 2-2. Remarkably it was Gedling’s goalkeeper, Dan Cockayne, who opened the scoring as a kick out of his hands found its way into Dunkirk’s net. Lorcan Hickey levelled from the penalty spot but Southbank went ahead once again. George Bosworth ensured a share of the spoils for Dunkirk. In the NSL Senior Cup quarter-finals Newark Flowserve dispatched Wollaton 7-0 with goals from Daryl Price (2), James Cullingworth, Tyler Martin, Sol Miller, Elliott King and Jack Beckett. Bingham Town had to come from behind to knock out Division One Ashland Rovers 2-1. Lee Townsend put Rovers ahead but Tom Spencer equalised on the stroke of half time. Ed Hodgson sealed the tie in the second period. It will be an all-NSL final in the Nottinghamshire FA Junior Cup as Woodthorpe Park Rangers edged past Polonia Nottingham United 2-1 with goals from Darren Oldham and Adam Forry while Stapleford Town defeated Newark Flowserve Reserves 6-3. There was a brace for both Mitchell Robinson and Junior Rodriguez alongside Michael Robb and Benjamin Smedley strikes. Harry Mills (2) and Curtis Price replied for Newark. In Division One, Mark Smallwood scored twice for Ravenshead in their 5-2 win at Southwell City Reserves. Lee Bowler and Ben Smith gave Kirton Brickworks a 2-0 win at AFC Bridgford. Luke Greaves scored a hat-trick for Mansfield Hosiery Mills and Aswaan Allen a hat-trick for Real Community as the two sides drew 5-5. Ruddington Village Reserves held out for a 1-0 win against Wollaton Reserves, playing for 35 minutes with ten men. In Division Two, Southwell City Development closed the gap o the top two with a 7-1 win over Nottingham City while Burton Joyce went down 2-0 at Magdala Amateurs Reserves. Barrowby edged past Kirton Brickworks Reserves 3-2, Underwood Villa Reserves won 6-2 at Welbeck Lions Reserves and Gedling Southbank Reserves and Bingham Town Reserves drew 3-3. Comments are closed.
