Senior Cup gets underway...In the Nottinghamshire Senior League’s Premier and Division One the majority of teams take a break from league action this weekend as the Senior Cup gets underway. There are a few teams from Division One that will be hoping to upset the odds as they come up against higher-ranked opposition, possibly none more so than Bridgford United. They currently sit top of the second flight and welcome Gedling Southbank, second bottom of the Premier Division, to Hollinwood Lane.
Also looking for major scalps are on home turf AFC Bridgford, who entertain Calverton Miners Welfare at Gresham Sports Park, Netherfield Albion, who welcome AFC Dunkirk to Roko, and Bestwood Miners Welfare, who host Attenborough. Basford United Community, unbeaten so far, will hope that continues as they head to Butt Field to play Bingham Town. There are five all-Premier Division ties: League leaders Southwell City, with their 100% record, will try to take that form into the cup as they travel to The Shilo to face Awsworth Villa. Cotgrave, having won their last two matches 5-1, would love a repeat of that score line as Aslockton & Orston make the trip to Woodview. Eastwood CFC Development edged past Keyworth United 3-2 when they met in the league earlier this month, they do battle again at Platt Lane. FC Cavaliers welcome Radcliffe Olympic to The Forest, Magdala Amateurs host Sandiacre Town at Roko and Wollaton and Bilborough Town meet at the WSA. As for all-Division One ties, it’s fourth versus third as Burton Joyce entertain Woodthorpe Park Rangers at The Poplars. Mansfield Hosiery Mills head to Elms Park to take on Ruddington Village and Beeston welcome Kirton Brickworks to Leyton Crescent. There’s league action in Division One on Friday night with Kimberley Miners Welfare Reserves hosting Selston Reserves at The Stag Ground. On Saturday, Radford Reserves entertain Awsworth Villa Reserves at the CDW Arena and Southwell City Reserves host Wollaton Reserves at the War Memorial Ground. In selected Division Two fixtures, unbeaten leaders Stapleford Town Reserves welcome an Elston United side still searching for their first points to Hickings Lane. Also unbeaten are AFC Clifton and AFC Top Valley who host Magdala Amateurs Reserves and travel to Ravenshead Reserves respectively. Ravenshead should have top scorer Tyler Lambert back after injury, whilst Mark Smallwood figured in training and is looking for minutes after limping out of the first team’s opening fixture. Brad Martin is away and Dave Harkin is a doubt. Comments are closed.
