In the Nottinghamshire Senior League Premier Division, leaders Newark Flowserve will attempt to make it 21 wins from 21 as Basford United Community visit Hawton Lane.
Second placed Awsworth Villa will field a similar squad to that used in last week’s win over Underwood Villa, although they will be without Matt Goodwin, who is on holiday, as they welcome Cotgrave to The Shilo. Wollaton hope to end their poor run of form when they entertain Southwell City, having beaten them away and in the Senior Cup. The WSA groundsman will be hoping that the weather stays fair as the pitch is still recovering from the damage inflicted two weeks ago. With Bilborough Town losing so many players recently, manager Steve Lee has been working hard to try and address this, bringing in Chris Helthorp, Carl Woodward, Chris Roome, Niall Williams and Tony Law. Long term absentee Ricky Law should also return as Town head to the Ron Steel Sports Ground to play AFC Dunkirk. Bilborough are also hopeful of having another new face before Saturday and plan further additions. Such a major rebuild is going to take time but the team are thankful to the youngsters who stepped up to the plate and now return to U18 duties. Third placed FC Cavaliers head to the Stag Ground to play bottom club Kimberley Miners Welfare AFC while the two teams just one point above Kimberley, Underwood Villa and Ruddington Village, meet at Bracken Park and Magdala Amateurs host Sandiacre Town at Roko. In an all-NSL Notts FA Intermediate Cup quarter final, Jack Harris comes into the Calverton Miners Welfare squad in place of Andrew Smith with Bingham Town the visitors to Hollinwood Lane. Meanwhile Attenborough travel to Debdale Park to play Sherwood Colliery Reserves. In Division One, Ravenshead host the league leaders, Netherfield Albion, at Cornwater and welcome back Daniel Fisher to the squad, but Luke Williams and Chris Bovey are definitely out, while Mark White faces a late fitness test. AFC Bridgford host Awsworth Villa Reserves at Gresham Sports Park as they look to respond to the defeat at Mansfield Hosiery Mills in their previous fixture. Prior to that Bridgford had enjoyed an unbeaten start to 2018, complemented by the returns of key players Sam Gaskin, Tom Gray and Ollie Williams. This had signalled a change in fortunes for the NG2 side who have endured a tough second season in the NSL but with Tom Teer in consistent goal scoring form there is optimism for a strong finish this term. There will definitely be a NSL presence in the Notts FA Junior Cup final as Stapleford Town meet Newark Flowserve Reserves in the semi-final at Hickings Lane. There’s also the chance of an all-NSL final as Division Two’s Woodthorpe Park Rangers play Pollonia Nottingham United in the other semi. Division Two leaders, Bridgford United, travel to Lowfield to face Barrowby. It’s the first time that the teams have met each other in the league this season; Bridgford welcome Pam Mbowe back into the squad after a long spell out and are hopeful that the players that picked up knocks last weekend are fully recovered so they can field a full strength side. |
